Sacred Circles Institute is located in the beautiful Puget Sound Area of Washington State. We offer classes and conduct workshops on a variety of topics about spiritual development. We offer a home study course called Walking the Sacred Wheel that includes optional teacher certification, administer a prison out-reach project, and conduct seasonal ceremonies and earth-honoring rituals. We also publish a newsletter and spiritual manuscripts and maintain this web site.

WHO WE ARE

Sacred Circles Institute of the Center for Natural Systems Studies teaches the sacred relationships of the wisdom traditions of earth-centered cultures. The mission of the Institute is to provide opportunites for participating in the mystery dimension of the universe so that we recognize its wonders as the same deep mystery of our own beingness.

The Institute provides a home-study course called Walking the Sacred Wheel, weekend intensive trainings, and week long workshops on adult spiritual development and the sacred dimensions of life. Optional teaching certification is offered for those completing the full two years of the Wheel course. The Institute also provides, free of charge, course material to prisoners and currently supports over forty “prisoner councils” throughout the United States.

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

David Thomson, PhD and Mattie Davis-Wolfe, RN, MA are the founders and co-directors of The Center for Natural Systems Studies and Sacred Circles Institute. They have specialized professional backgrounds in adult education, internal change-agency, human relations training and organizational development. Besides their formal educational training, David and Mattie, for many years, have studied with some of the most interesting and sublime mentors of our time - both academic and native indigenous teachers from diverse cultures and traditions all over the world. They are gifted teachers and workshop leaders who, in their own relationship, humorously and poignantly model the “Search for the Divine.” They bring the gifts of the ancient knowledge of many cultures to their teaching and give to their students a rich blend of deep insight, light self-discovery and warm respectful support.

THE INSTITUTE STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Sacred Circles Institute was formed to address the world need for simple yet powerful techniques for spiritual opening, transformation, self-exploration and healing, based on the ancient wisdoms of earth-honoring people combined with insights from modern consciousness research, depth psychology and perennial spiritual practices.

SCI HAS A THREEFOLD MISSION:

1. To identify and develop approaches to primary spiritual experience that can be used safely and effectively.

2. To further personal knowledge of the sacred through the identification of a personal spiritual path.

3. To educate, empower and support individuals, organizations and communities in their efforts to bring the insights, grace and wholeness that arise from direct perception of the divine into the daily lives their families, communities, their nations and the world.

Sacred Circles Institute has no doctrine or liturgy of its own. The Institute believes in the sacredness of all paths. Our goal is to provide insights on how to live with more wisdom and compassion, loving kindness and non-harm to all beings.
