The Center for Natural Systems Studies and Sacred Circles Institute are educational entities that are dedicated to acting as a bridge between ancient wisdom traditional knowledge and modern scientific, business, medical, religious, and educational thought. Their goal is to establish and maintain a dialogue between these diverse but interdependent disciplines so that each may honor and learn from the other.
All the peoples of the Earth at one time lived lives in tune with nature and the elements. They lived in relatively small groups and had simple needs that did not dramatically impact the environment. Civilization and its attendant legacy has given us centralized government, religion, modern education, science and industry but in the process we have suffered a great loss. We lost our primary relationship to the Earth and its rich heritage of sacred wisdom. Recently the last remaining keepers of this heritage all over the world have been given signs that now is the time for revealing, sharing, and "re-membering" the wisdom teaching of the old ways. Sacred Circles Institute and the Center for Natural Systems Studies are honored to participate in the global effort to reclaim ancient wisdom teachings that are needed today so that we can once again walk in balance and harmony on this Earth while learning to use technology in sustainable ways.
The Center provides counseling, consulting, and mentoring services, and seminars and workshops on community collaboration, creative leadership, holistic health, growth psychology, sustainable culture, peace and justice, and other issues of global human concern.
David Thomson, PhD and Mattie Davis-Wolfe, RN, MA are the founders and co-directors of The Center for Natural Systems Studies and Sacred Circles Institute. They teach about the sacred relationships of the wisdom traditions of earth-centered cultures - the relationship that we have with ourselves, each other, and the natural world. Their workshops and trainings are taught from a community building interdisciplinary learning model.
"A human life, so often likened to a spectacle upon a stage, is more justly a ritual. The ancient values of dignity, beauty, and poetry which sustain it are of nature's Inspiration; they are born of the mystery and beauty of the world...Touch the earth, love the earth, honor the earth, her plains, her valleys, her seas; rest your spirit in her solitary places. For the gifts of life are the earth's and they are given to all...." -- Henry Beston
