FALL AND WINTER CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS - 2007 / 2008

"PRACTICAL SHAMANISM"

with David Thomson, PhD

7:30 to 10 pm Tuesdays

In the old shamanic traditions, shamanism literally means "one who travels between the worlds."  In today's fast-paced techno-material world, many of us are coming in from the cold and individualistic square culture into the warm relational round culture of the old ones.

In this new world we honor and travel the cycles of the seasons, the eternal round of birth and childhood, adolescence, maturity, and old age.  Here we honor the teachings and seasons of the sun-moon-star dance that is our natural home.

Come join us this fall as we explore these worlds and open up our sight and our senses to that which has for too long lay hidden in our very natures.

October 2 - SHAMANIC DEATH - Enter the West Gate (Fall Season) of the Ancient Medicine Wheel.  Explore what it means to "die shamanically" and fully let go of the old so you can embrace what's new and present in your life.

October 16 - BEING WITH BEAR - Explore the "bear medicine" of going within and the herbs and other gifts of this ancient, powerful ally.

October 30 - ENEMIES, EVIL, and NEGATIVITY - Learn centuries old and modern shamanic techniques to effectively deal with the forces, energies, and personalities that can cause you harm.

November 6 - SOUL RETRIEVAL - Experience several methods of calling your soul home.

November 20 - MEDICINE NAMES - Names are powerful reminders of who we are and how we move in the world.  Come explore the several names you have been given during your life, and those that might be waiting for you.

December 4 - HEALING WATERS - Water is an essential part of our nature and is vital to abundant life on this planet.  Examine in a loving community of pathwalkers, the healing, restorative nature of this primary element.

Please bring medicine blankets, drums, and rattles with you as we journey together in these new worlds.
